Chrono Trigger is famous for all its endings, but the 14 true endings along with the bad ending you get if you lose to Lavos were just not enough for the DS port. The latest pages of Famitsu show two screens from this ending, but they don’t reveal very much. One has Crono, Marle, and Frog next to a time gate, and Marle asks, “Where are we?” The other shows the Prophet from Zeal standing next to the same gate alone. Both screens show a vortex area like the one you see when you fight Lavos the first time. As expected, there were no details on getting the new ending.

Fans will not have to wait until the End of Time for the DS port of the time traveling classic Chrono Trigger. It will arrive in stores November 25 unless Lavos decides to be nine years late.
Square Enix announced today that Chrono Trigger DS will be headed to Europe and to PAL territories, both of which missed out on the game the first time around. The game is due out in December 2008 in North America and is set for early 2009 in Europe.
The press release is in hand. Chrono Trigger is slated for release at the end of the year in North America. So far, it appears to be more of a port, as opposed a remake as with the upcoming Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest remakes. Naturally, it will make use of the dual screens and touch screen functionality. There will also be a new dungeon and wireless play. Stay tuned for more details as E3 is just around around the corner.
Given the huge amount of speculation that continually swirls around the Chrono Trigger series, recent rumors of a port of fan-favorite Chrono Trigger seemed, at first, to be easily enough dismissed. However, with the unveiling of a new site, complete with clock and Nintendo DS logo, these rumors would now seem to be confirmed.
Unfortunately, details are scarce at the moment. All we really know is that Square Enix plans to bring the first entry in its classic time-travel series to the Nintendo DS. We’ll keep you up to date on the latest information as it becomes available.
[Minor Update: There appears to be a North American version of the CTDS page, which could indicate a high probability of a localized release. Maybe.]
