Square Enix has lifted the lid on more Drakengard 3 preorder bonuses, previously separated into three tiers based on date of order. The first tier includes Japanese voiceovers as DLC, while the second includes a Nier costume pack and the Emil Hat for your dragon; the third tier has yet to be revealed.
Those who preordered the game prior to March 4 are eligible for all three tiers, while any who preorder by April 8 will still have access to tiers two and three.
The first story add-on for Drakengard 3 will be available on March 6 in Japan, according to this week’s Famitsu. Consisting of memories of the Utautai sisters, the DLC will be released in weekly installments for 600 yen apiece, each one covering a different sister. The follow-up DLC will launch on March 13, March 20, March 27, and April 3.
Drakengard 3‘s first batch of story DLC will reportedly take place before the events of the game. Details are sparse at this time, though the character Utautai will reportedly be playable. While the content reportedly will go live in Japan soon, a release date has not been specified at this time.
Square Enix has outlined the release schedule for Drakengard 3 downloadable content in Japan. Costume DLC will be staggered on December 19, 26, and early 2014, while story DLC follow at an unspecified date. The game itself goes live in Japan on December 19, with a global release planned for next year.
Drakengard 3 will reportedly feature sidequests to unlock additional rewards, as was present in the first game. The goals and conditions of each quest vary, such as getting items from enemies within a time limit, or clearing all chests but being restricted to the use of your sword.
As a reminder, Drakengard 3 comes out in Japan on December 19, with a global release to follow in 2014.
Square Enix has announced that Drakengard 3 will be released in North America and Europe. Retailing at $49.99, the title launches sometime in 2014, though an exact date is not yet known.

Square Enix has announced the extra goodies bundled in the 10th Anniversary Commemoration Box version of Drakengard 3. The box set will include a download code for a Kaine costume from Nier, and a replica of the script from the first Drakengard game. A gradual descent into madness is included for those that read said script.
Additionally, Square Enix confirmed that Weapon Stories – backstories for collectable weapons that were featured in previous Drakengard games – will be present in Drakengard 3.

The Drakengard series, last seen at the number 2 on PS2, will be getting a new installment on the PS3, according to this week’s Famitsu. Drakengard 3 (titled Drag-on Dragoon 3 in Japan) is being developed by Access Games, along with some of the original Cavia staff; these include Nier director Taro Yoko, producer Takamasa Shiba, and character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka. Access, meanwhile, is perhaps best known for their surreal, Twin Peaks-ian adventure/horror title Deadly Premonition.
