Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD PS3 Release Date Announced

Square Enix has revealed that the PS3 HD redux of Final Fantasy X/X-2 will hit North America on March 18, with the European release following on March 21.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 Details: New Episode, Crossplatform Saves

New and curious tidbits have emerged regarding the HD redux of Final Fantasy X/X-2. First, the game will feature a 30-minute audio drama that runs after the ending credits. The content of this drama was not clarified, save that it would feature new cast members and new character voices. Second, the remaster will feature cross-saves, meaning players can save on the PS3 and continue playing on the PS Vita, and vice versa.

FFX/X2 Remaster May Lead to Other HD Re-releases

Square Enix may consider successive HD re-releases for the Final Fantasy series if Final Fantasy X/X-2‘s makeover sells well, according to producer Yoshinori Kitase. While he didn’t indicate any such title was currently in development, he did state that “If [FFX and X-2] do well, I think this will pave the way for more of the previous games to remade in an HD sort of quality. I mean, if we had to single out one of the vast number of Final Fantasy titles which we could make in HD, it would have to be Final Fantasy XII.”

Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster Nearing Completion

Via Famitsu, Square Enix offered a status report on the HD re-release of Final Fantasy X/X-2. Both the PS3 and the Vita versions are roughly 70% complete, though a release date has not been set beyond “sometime this year”.
