Impressions from the Floor: Arc Rise Fantasia, Magic: the Gathering Tactics

Sitting here in the E3 media lounge, chicken caesar wrap on my lap, writing this post on my DSiXL. I call it convergence. Continue reading ‘Impressions from the Floor: Arc Rise Fantasia, Magic: the Gathering Tactics’ »

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, PAX Impression

It seems like Square Enix brought to PAX pretty much the same demo for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days as it had at E3, though there were a few notable improvements.  You could actually pick up the DS and hold it, for one.  Continue reading ‘Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, PAX Impression’ »

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Impression

Even though Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was playable on the E3 show floor, that demo revealed very little, especially for someone that has played Final Fantasy IV more times than I can count and on five different systems. Playing as a highly leveled Kain one-shotting monsters on Mt. Ordeals wasn’t enough to satisfy me. So I did what any fan of the game would do. I downloaded the real game. Demon’s Souls Impression

Demon’s Souls is a hard game to describe. On paper, it sounds completely different than it does in person, and that’s a good thing. Until I had my hands on the game, I wasn’t sure whether or not it was something I wanted to play, but after trying it, it’s on my must-have list. Continue reading ‘Demon’s Souls Impression’ »

Mario and Luigi 3: Bowser’s Inside Story Impression

Hidden behind the line of eager players waiting their turn to play Zelda was a playable demo of Mario and Luigi 3: Bowser’s Inside Story. Like the Zelda demo, it had several smaller segments, but I only opted for the Bowser one. Continue reading ‘Mario and Luigi 3: Bowser’s Inside Story Impression’ »

Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Impression 2

For those that braved the line, Nintendo showed off three demos of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. They were a dungeon scenario, a train, demo, and a boss fight. And if you happened to still be on the show floor at the end of the day on Thursday, you could knock out all three in one fell swoop. Luckily, I planned on taking the red eye out of town, so I can tell you about all of them. Continue reading ‘Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Impression 2’ »

Final Fantasy XIII Demo – Hands on Impression

I remember being at E3 2006 when Final Fantasy XIII was finally announced to the public. We didn’t know much back then, but thanks to the way information has trickled out, we almost know a few things about this game over three years later. When Square Enix announced that a playable demo would ship with Advent Children Complete (in Japan only, of course) I hastily put down my pre-order and waited the weeks for it to ship and then another three weeks for it to arrive. Was it worth the wait to get just a taste of what is to come? Continue reading ‘Final Fantasy XIII Demo – Hands on Impression’ »

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness – Impression

Harvest Moon is celebrating its tenth birthday this year — no small feat for any franchise — and Natsume is celebrating that anniversary with their latest addition to the series, Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness for the Nintendo DS. Like most Harvest Moon games, Island of Happiness is quite lengthy. After thirty hours of gameplay I managed to make it through the first year of the game. Since here at RandomNPC we believe that an informed review can only be accomplished by playing a game through to its end, I thought I would offer an impression of Island of Happiness based on the first year of the game, in advance of a full review, which will come at a later date.
