Atlus just announced that Persona 3 Portable will be available in Europe later this year. Through publisher Ghostlight, the PSP update to Persona 3 will come in both boxed Collector’s Editions and as digital downloads. Exactly what the box would contain beside the disc was not specified.
Following the port-heavy schedule for the PSP, Persona 3 Portable builds on what was already a great game, adding new features, more combat options, and a huge whack of new plot in the form of new Social Links. Unfortunately, not all the alterations really work, as there has been some excessive tinkering with the game’s balance, and the technical limitations of the handheld platform have resulted in an oversimplified interface that causes some serious issues with suspension of disbelief. The end result is a game which feels a bit overworked, but has the potential to provide an excellent experience. Continue reading ‘Persona 3 Portable – Staff Review’ »

One of the very few gripes people seemed to have with the Playstation 2 version of Persona 3 was with its battle system. Having to talk to each party member just to change their equipment or having to rely on the sometimes-not-very-good ally AI in battle was, to be frank, just plain irritating. Well, Atlus has listened to the feedback. Continue reading ‘Persona 3 Portable – Out with the Old, in With the New Battle System’ »

The latest issue of Famitsu included a rather surprising article, revealing the existence of Persona 3 Portable. A PSP remake of the popular Playstation 2 RPG, Persona 3 Portable will include a new female character with a Persona that looks shockingly similar to the main character’s Persona, Orpheus. Other additions include entirely menu-based navigation outside of Tartarus, and a new male assistant for Igor.
Persona 3 Portable has a Japanese release date of November 1st.
