D3Publisher confirmed today that Puzzle Quest Galactrix will be headed to the Xbox Live Arcade on April 8. The DS and PC versions of the game have already been released.
In 2007, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords combined gem-matching puzzles with RPG gameplay to create a unique and entertaining experience. Puzzle Quest Galactrix for the Nintendo DS attempts to replicate the experience… and fails entirely. Riddled with control problems, a sloppy port to the DS, and frustrating gameplay, Galactrix is a poor successor to Challenge of the Warlords.
In our Odd Couple edition of Mass Media Update, we stuck Puzzle Quest Galactrix and The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf together and took pictures of the results. If last week didn’t break your wallet with all the games hitting at the same time, this one might. Square Enix is bringing Star Ocean: The Last Hope for 360 and The Last Remnant for PC. They retail for 59.99 and 39.99 respectively. If the retail scene isn’t for you, The Last Remnant will also be available on Steam starting April 9.
The DS will be getting a lot of action as well. Atlus ships Legacy of Ys: Books 1 & 2 for 34.99, and all launch copies come with a free soundtrack. Blue Dragon Plus from Ignition will hit shelves for 29.99. Last but not least, D3’s Puzzle Quest Galactrix is now available for 29.99

PuzzleQuest fans can now get a sneak peek at the upcoming addition to the series, PuzzleQuest Galactrix. A playable demo is now available on the game’s site. The game itself will available on PC, Nintendo DS, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network with the DS version due out on February 24.
Nintendo announced its North American Q1 lineup today and a couple of titles may be of interest to RPG fans. Pokémon Platinum for the Nintendo DS has been officially dated for March 22. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, also for the Nintendo DS, was confirmed for February 16.
The press release also listed third party games. For the Nintendo Wii, players can expect Little King’s Story on February 17 and Rune Factory: Frontier in March. The DS can look forward to Legacy of Ys: Books I & II on February 10, and Puzzle Quest: Galactrix and Suikoden Tierkreis in the first quarter.

D3 Publishing announced that Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords will be hitting the iTunes App Store this fall. With the addition of the iPhone and iPod Touch, the game will now be on pretty much every device possible up to and including toaster ovens. If you’ve been meaning to get the game but have yet to commit, there will soon be few excuses.
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is now available for download from the on the PSP section of the PlayStation Store. It’s 14.99 and takes 65MB.
So you’ve finished Puzzle Quest, and you need something to keep you busy while waiting for Galactrix? Starting today, a new expansion titled Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords – Revenge of the Plague Lord, is available from the Xbox LIVE Arcade for 700 MS points.
