UK Publisher Seeks Pre-Orders for Devil Survivor 2

Citing “challenges faced in the current retail sector”, Devil Survivor 2‘s UK publisher Ghostlight has reached out to players with an unusual request. To ensure the title gets manufactured, the publisher is asking for 1800 or more preorders, available through the company’s online store. If this goal is reached, the title will be out in September, though all preorders will be refunded if it fails.

EU Version of SMT: Devil Survivor 2 Needs “Fan Support” to Release

With the 3DS remake of Devil Survivor to reach Europe by the end of March, publisher Ghostlight responded to inquiries about the sequel, Devil Survivor 2, which hit North America back in 2012. Apparently, a European verison of DS2 is complete and approved by Nintendo, but the company is reluctant to release it due to DS titles being phased out of retail. “Without going into too much detail, retail support for DS titles is understandably low at the moment making it difficult for us to release the title,” the publisher said.

They are currently exploring an online release through their own storefront, though this would require “your full support in making this release happen.” The extent of that support was not made clear at this time.

Devil Survivor 2 Announced

A sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor is in the works, according to this week’s Famitsu. Not to be confused with the 3DS-bound Devil Survivor Overclocked, the sequel is headed for the original DS, and concerns the effort to repel daily attacks by creatures known as the Septentrion. Staff comments in the article indicate the setting will cover multiple cities throughout Japan, and that there are more main characters this time around.

Devil Survivor 2 is expected to release in Japan under the Atlus banner this summer, though an exact date is not known.
