Pokemon+Nobunaga’s Ambition Tops Sales Charts

Proving that Pokemon sells no matter what unusual property it’s attached to, Pokemon+Nobunaga’s Ambition sold about 172,000 units in its first week. This put it ahead of Shining Blade at 122,000, and the PSP entry into the Madoka Magika series at 62,000.

Shining Blade Details: Force and Link Attacks

More details have emerged regarding Shining Blade‘s battle system. Special attacks are split into two categories: Force and Link Attacks. The former are character specific, and usable once the Force Gauge has been built up. The latter, naturally, are joint attacks with party members, and dependent on favorability ratings with each character.

Shining Blade Coming to PSP

The latest installment in the Shining series, Shining Blade, will be appearing on the PSP. According to this week’s Famitsu, the title follows the adventures of a young fellow named Rage and his companion Altina; the former a bearer of a mystical weapon, the latter a princess whose songs can conjure up spirits.

Of further curiosity is the combat engine, which reportedly borrows elements from BLiTZ, the hybrid turn-based/real-time system used in the Valkyria Chronicles series. Few other details are known at this time, though Tony Taka and Yuki Kikuda are at their usual roles of character design and music, respectively.

Sega Reveals Shining Hearts: Local Bakery Saves the World

Sega announced today that Shining Hearts, the next entry in its long-running series, is headed for the PSP.  The game tells the tale of swordsman Rick, who works at an island bakery along with a hunter, a magician, and a priestess.  When a mysterious, emotionless girl washes ashore with no memory of what happened to her, Rick and his bakery pals team up to help her out.  While plot advancement opens up new areas of the island, players can engage in various sim-based activities along the way, from villager quests to sailing to material-collection minigames.

Shining Hearts is set for a winter release in Japan, though no US release has been announced.
