Care of Famitsu comes more details about the world of Tales of Zestiria. The plot reportedly focuses on the continent of Glynnwood – fought over by the Highland Kingdom and the Laurence Empire – and enigmatic beings known as the “Family of Heaven”. Supposedly a select few can communicate with this group and appeal to borrow their godlike powers; those who do this are called Doshi, and themselves are considered messianic figures. Over time, this Family established a shrine grove within a forest, isolated (along with a handful of people) from some as-yet-unexplained impurity that has been spreading throughout the world.

Main characters Slay and Alicia got a bit more information as well. Slay is a native of said shrine grove with an interest in local ruins, and he makes some use out of the tellingly titled “Record of Heavenly Bequeathments”. He appears to be immune to the aforementioned impurity, and yet is targeted by “Haunting Demons” borne of same. Alicia, by contrast, is one of many princesses in the Highland Kingdom, and last in line for the throne. Treated poorly by noble standards, she has instead opted to train as a knight.
