Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 Announced
The latest pages of Famitsu confirm that Persona is getting a fourth installment, and the series will remain on the PS2. So far, several details have surfaced. For example, it is known that the game uses the same engine as its predecessor. There will also be over 180 different Personas and will be approximately one and a half times longer than Persona 3. Three big names are behind the game. Katsura Hashino is continuing his work on the series as director, Shigenori Soejima is providing the art, and Shoji Meguro is composing the music.
So far plot details are slightly more scarce. Persona 4 will will be in a more rural environment, and the theme will be murder mystery with a heavy dose of suspense for good measure. There will be plenty of twists and turns, and there will be multiple endings to further extend the gameplay. There is also a weather forecast system, and for some reason, a murder happens every time there is a fog.
Japanese gamers can expect to pick up their copy on July 10, but no announcements about a North American release have been made. Considering the recent announcement of Persona 3 FES hopping the pond, this game has a better than average chance of being enjoyed by an English-speaking audience.
