Blazers to Blaze a Trail on DS
If you’re an avid Naruto fan you probably know that the series’ creator, Masashi Kishimoto, has a twin brother by the name of Seishi Kishimoto who is also a manga artist. If you’ve been sitting around wondering what Seishi Kishimoto has been up to of late, then wonder no more. Sega has announced the upcoming release of Blazer Drive, an RPG based on the currently-running manga of the same name by Seishi Kishimoto.
Blazer Drive takes place in a futuristic, eco-friendly Tokyo where power is supplied by “Mystickers.” Though they look like normal stickers, Mystickers have the ability draw power out of objects so that they can do anything from heating water to running a car. Normally, placing a Mystickers against one’s skin would be harmful, but a handful of people known as Blazers have the ability to control Mystickers’ power and thus gain magic-like abilities from them. Gamers will take on the role of Shiro, who discovers his abilities when he is attacked by another Blazer. Shiro and his friend Tamaki go on to join the Guardians, an elite group of Blazers hoping to eliminate Blazer crime in Tokyo.
Battles will be turn-based and revolve around the use of Mystickers. Before battle players will have to choose which Mystickers to equip. Players will use the stylus during combat to select Mystickers and unleash attacks, special abilities, and combos.
Blazer Drive is due out on the Nintendo DS this coming winter in Japan. There’s been no word yet about a North American release.
