Atlus Digs Up the Dirt

Atlus is on roll this summer with the announcement of another upcoming RPG, this one for the Nintendo DS. Master of The Monster Lair will feature gameplpay that revolves around creating dungeons and hunting monsters.

The story begins in the town of South Arc, which of late has been besieged by monsters. Players will take the role of a young man who, instead of coming across a magic lamp or a chicken that lays golden eggs, has the (mis)fortune of encountering a talking shovel. The obstreperous implement forces a quest upon the young man: He must save South Arc by digging a dungeon that will lure away all the monsters that have been plaguing the village.

The game promises over twenty types of rooms with which to build dungeons, ranging from chapels and stables to cellars and trash dumps. Each type of room will attract different kinds of monsters. Once the monsters are ensnared in the state-of-the-art dungeon players will have to hunt them down. By doing so they will be able to collect different types of weapons, items, and new dungeon-building options. The game will also allow players to trade dungeon designs with friends over local wireless.

Master of the Monster Lair has been rated E10+. Players can get digging on September 2.
