New Cross Edge Battle System, Forms Details Emerge
Some new details regarding the battle system for Cross Edge, the RPG mash-up from companies including Capcom, Namco Bandai, Nippon Ichi, and more, have been uncovered. Parties will have up to four characters, and battles will be turn based. But unlike most games, the player will not choose actions from a menu. Actions will be assigned to the square, triangle, circle, and x buttons for each party member. In combat, the player needs only push the appropriate button to execute the desired command.
It is previously known that characters can equip “forms” to boost stats and abilities. In the case of female characters, it will also change her on-screen appearance. So far, examples of forms include “little devil,” “street clothes,” and “gym uniform.”
Cross Edge is on track for a September release in Japan for the PS3. No word yet on a North American release, but in the worst case, PS3 games are region-free, so everyone else can import at will.
