Square Enix Summoned Onto iPod

Square Enix announced today the worldwide release of Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes for iPod. The game is playable on iPod nano with video, the iPod classic, and the fifth generation iPod, and is available in English or Japanese via the iTunes Store for 4.99 USD, 3.99 Pounds, or 4.99 Euros.

Song Summoner takes place in the land of Melodica. Once peaceful and filled with music, it has now been conquered by a race of cyborg-like beings known as Mechanoids, who traded their souls for machine bodies. Melodica’s only hope is the Song Summoner, who can use music to create skilled warriors. Players take on the role of Ziggy, whose brother has been captured by the Mechanical Militia. The game turns iPod songs into “Tune Troopers” that players can control in tactical battles. The abilities of “Tune Troopers” are determined by the songs used in their creation and Troopers can increase their abilities when players are listening to music on their iPods. Action is controlled by the Click Wheel.
