Blizzard Turns Up the Heat in Mexico, Tries Not to Melt

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that World of Warcraft will be coming to Mexico, Chile, and Argentina on July 25. Players will then be able to pick up to WoW and its expansion, The Burning Crusade, as well as sixty-day prepaid subscription cards.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new players to World of Warcraft with the release of the Latin American Spanish version next week,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition, we’re pleased to now be able to offer our existing Spanish-speaking community a fully localized version of the game with dedicated realms and support.”

Players with current accounts will also have the option of downloading a Latin American Spanish language pack and, additionally, will be able to transfer existing characters to the Latin American realms.

In celebration of the release, Blizzard will be holding a special launch event in Colonia del Valle, Mexico. On Friday 25 at 12 a.m. CDT, Blizzard staff will be at the Blockbuster Pilares on Av. Universidad #697, where fans can get their copies of the game autographed. July 26 and 27 will also see special events held in the Plaza Satélite mall in Estado de Mexico. The events will include give-aways, a chance at some nifty prizes, and a meet and greet with Blizzard staff. For more information, check out Blizzard’s English and Latin American sites.
