The Last Story Details: Camera Control and Lots of Dialogue

Mistwalker’s developers recently sat down for an interview discussing more details of The Last Story, and a few choice pieces of information stuck out:

  • Players can mess with the camera during event scenes, repositioning or adding a variety of effects.  Specifically mentioned was a “shaky-cam” effect used by one tester, while another followed one particular character for the scene.
  • All treasure chests and monster drops are random.
  • Online play will have two modes: PVP and co-op.  Each will allow up to six players.
  • Expect a lot of dialogue, even outside of cutscenes and such.  Characters will often give advice before and during battle.
  • It was hinted, though not outright stated, that players will be able to change costumes for their characters.

The Last Story launches early next year in Japan.  No US or European release has been announced.  The full text of the interview, in Japanese, can be found on Nintendo’s website.
