Rift Suffers Database Hack, Personal Info Exposed

Just in case you needed another hacking story to close out 2011, MMORPG Rift has that base covered. Developer Trion Worlds has notified clients of a compromised account database, which may have exposed user names, passwords, email addresses, and parts of credit card numbers.

It is not believed that full credit card information was revealed, though as a precaution the company is mandating password changes for players and recommends monitoring their card’s activity. Additionally, users are being granted three days of free game time.
