U.S. and Japan Duel Poké-Style

Have you got “mad skillz” as a Pokémon Diamond and Pearl trainer? Then Pokémon USA’s announcement may be just what you’ve been waiting for: the Video Game Showdown, wherein sixteen top-notch players from the U.S. will face off with an equal number Japanese players. The final showdown will take place on August 16 in Orlando, Florida. Two Qualifier Tournaments will take place, one in Los Angeles on July 12, the other in New York on July 19. The sixteen winners of the tournament will be given a paid trip for two to Orlando where they will represent the U.S. in the Video Game Showdown. Only 256 places are available for the Qualifiers. To have a chance at entering the finals, players must register and fill in a Pokémon quiz.

“Pokémon strives to create fun products and events for players of all skill levels and interests,” said J.C. Smith, director of marketing for Pokémon USA, Inc. “The Pokémon Video Game Showdown provides the most skilled Pokémon players an opportunity to determine who is truly the best.”
