Developer Deck 13 and DTP Entertainment have announced a new RPG for the Xbox360 and PC, and it sports a unique hook and a job title to die for.

Entitled Venetica, the game tells the story of a group of mortals with the power of the Grim Reaper, called the Corpus. Each new generation is tasked with the challenged of finding the next person to carry on Death’s power, but unfortunately, the most recent candidate turned out to be a bloodthirsty Necromancer. Absorbing Death’s power for his own, the Necromancer has become an immortal fiend, hellbent (no pun intended) on bringing doom to the world.

As the daughter of Death, Scarlett is tasked with finding a way to dispatch this immortal fiend and reinstate her father. Unfortunately, up until now, Scarlett has known nothing about her past, and so she’ll have to develop her abilities before taking on her ultimate opponent. Scheduled to be released in 2009, Venetica certainly looks to have an original story. We’ll keep you updated on it as the Day of Reckoning draws nearer.
