Final Fantasy XIV Races, Clans Detailed

The official Final Fantasy XIV website has just been updated with more detailed descriptions and sample character assets for the five races. Additionally, information about racial clan options is now available; each race is subdivided into two clans depending on regional origin.

– Hyuran, the base ‘human’ race, are divided into the more educated and widespread Midlanders and mercenary Highlanders.

– Elezen consist of the Wildwood and Duskwight clans. Wildwoods collectively hail from forests and wooded areas, while the pale-skinned Duskwights have their origins in caves and subterranean locales.

– The massive Roegaydn are a seafaring people. Sea Wolves commonly find work as sailors and mercenaries, while the Hellsguard hail from volcanic islands believed to be connected to the realm of the dead.

– Descendants of various hunting tribes, Miqo’te have two aptly-named subdivisions: Seekers of the Sun favor the light of day, while Keepers of the Moon are primarily nocturnal.

– The home islands of Lalafell Dunesfolk see more sunlight than most, and their eyes have evolved to better withstand it. Plainsfolk, by contrast, come from fairly temperate climates and are accustomed trackers.
