Tidying Up Final Fantasy XIV: Square Enix Gives More Update Details
With the November update coming up, Square Enix has revealed more information about the soon-to-be changes to Final Fantasy XIV. The updates contain many items players have been requesting since the game’s release, and a list of key adjustments follows:
November & December Updates
- Addition of new guildleves and adjustments to existing ones
- Targeting improvements
- Adjustments to classes and combat balance
- Notorious Monsters and monster population rebalancing
- Various synthesis changes and additions; specifically noted are a list of your eight most recently used recipes, and fewer commands to begin crafting
- Retainer and bazaar interface tweaks; retainers can have their equipment changed, and icons will indicate a bazaar’s status (buy, sell, repair, etc.)
- Implementation of an item search feature
- Additional chat filters and log window tabs, along with other chat improvements
- Anima reduction costs for teleportation, with further reductions for three destinations pre-marked by the player
- Server load issue maintenance
First 2011 Update
- Further guildleve, synthesis additions and adjustments
- New main and class quests
- Further class/combat rebalancing
- New battle content: Notorious Monster-related, hamlet defense battles, and item exchange quests
- Graphic displays to clarify an action’s effective range
- Repair control improvements; fewer commands needed to initiate repairs
- More retainer improvements: higher inventory capacity, larger bazaar capacity, sale/purchase history
- Delivery service
- Various UI changes: main menu, inventory, interactions, on-screen information
- Improved action/trait menu response time
- Improved keyboard & mouse controls: drag and drop functionality, mouseover help text, right click menus
- The addition of player-created companies (guilds), along with company-owned ships and buildings
- An in-game/Lodestone mail feature
