FFXIV Director Reveals Survey Results, Planned Changes

With the results from the player survey compiled, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida posted a list of planned changes on the Lodestone alongside his reaction to player feedback.  The list is surprisingly extensive, and key bits are bulleted below:

  • New quests will be generated to develop the threat facing Eorzea at large.
  • Player-owned companies will be implemented in each of the three cities, and these will have quests attached as well.
  • The user interface will undergo extensive changes: larger dialogue windows, refined journal controls, map and minimap refinements, window adjustments to reduce their intrusion in combat.
  • Jumping is being considered for implementation.
  • Guildleves will see refinements, such as in-game commands for leve renewal timers, and reward balancing for less popular leves.  New leves will be implemented following this rebalancing.
  • Item degradation rates will be reduced, and equipment will be easier to obtain through battle and quest completion.
  • Gathering animations will be sped up.
  • Item stack increases from 12 to 99 are being considered.
  • The market search function will now return prices along with locations.
  • An auction house system is being examined.
  • Several revisions to group combat are to be implemented, most notably in enmity generation and crowd control mechanics.  Skill point acquisitions for parties will see improvements.
  • Beast tribe monsters will appear as both roaming and quest-related enemies.
