Current Quests – Week of 12/16/07

Might I say that I love Firefox? It’s like IE without the Windows baggage and the memory leaks, and the crashes that kill your ability to actually open explorer windows to browse your hard drive. Oh, and the ads. And the autoloading “plugins”. Among many other things. Anyway, it’s Quests time!

Cortney “Alethea” Stone is unfortunately without power to her home due to ice storms. She’s safe and warm at a friend’s, though. This has, of course, snowed under Mass Effect, and any other game.

John “In space, no one can hear you squee for catgirls, Karlinn” Boske, resident rapscallion, is halfway through the enormous Rogue Galaxy. After that, plans are to splash around in the great gaming sea that is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Finally, he is reviewing Fallout Tactics, so look forward to that in the future. Geddit? Future? I made a funny.

Michael “CactuarJoe” Beckett is about halfway through the eternity of Tales of Eternia PSP, and expects to review it soon. As well, he hunts the elusive Deoxys in Pokemon Pearl, because “it looks awesome.” I hope it doesn’t eat his DNA.

Derek “Roku” Cavin, AKA The Machine, has recently finished his finals and has been relaxing with some Digimon games. Oddly, one is horrid, the other is fairly good. Perhaps Bandai digivolved in the interim. He’ll be going on vacation soon, so here’s a message from him on that subject: “Roku apologizes for the hiatus caused by finals and is now finishing up the reviews he’s had in progress; he is going to visit family next week, so he will post some now and the rest when he gets back.”

As for me, I’ve been playing a different sort of game… not really a game at all. After wrapping up Bioshock, I learned of an update to a vessel for the Orbiter space-flight simulator. I’ve been galavanting around the Solar System ever since. Once I’ve had my fill of space simulation, I plan to play through a whole host of games available on GameTap, including many RPGs, giving me the opportunity to stretch my review writing ability again. And I might have a little Mass Effect shaped joy coming to me for Christmas, too.

Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko is off at Armageddon today. Recently, he’s gotten two new pokemon in Pokemon Pearl (the better to beat Joe with), and is on mission 8-3 of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings.

Mr. Nerdboy needs to hurry up and write something to introduce himself.

Jason “Ishmael” Schreier is still currently on his own vacation.

And now, your Quote of the Week (TM).

<Karlinn> IT’S LIKE SANTA WALKED UP TO THE SPIRIT OF HALLOWEEN AND SAID ‘OUT WITH YOU BITCH, THIS BE SANTA’S TURF NOW’
<Karlinn> Yes? No? <.<;
<XeroZohar> I meant IRC quotes, but by virtue of you telling me that over IRC, it applies.
<XeroZohar> Congrats. ^^b
<Karlinn> Works for me ^^

    Firefox does have memory leakage, and massive amounts of it. It got so bad that my entire computer slowed down because of the severe eating of virtual memory.

    I find ads and the occansional browser shut down to be much more tolerable annoyances.

    I’m not saying it doesn’t, I’m only saying that I have never, -ever-, had firefox memory leaks, either in Linux or in Windows, and I’ve had plenty of experience with both. Hell, I used to be an IE user before Mozilla came along. Mileage seems to vary like that. I was just presenting an opposing viewpoint in a comical-ripoff manner. ^^

    Also, maybe you need more RAM if a browser is eating virtual memory. Just a thought.
