Current Quests – Week of 12/30/07

Might I say that I love Linux? Ah, the holidays. They sure are (usually) fun, but they have a habit of taking your carefully thought-out plans and throwing a wrench in them. I’ll get into my personal experience later, but first I shall update you on what everyone else is doing in cheesy countdown format since it’s almost the new year.

8. Cortney “Alethea” Stone finished her first adventure through the world of Mass Effect. She is now playing through it once more to see if playing as a “hardcore military badass renegade guy” makes any difference. My guess is that it does.

7. John “Karlinn” Boske is fighting lots of zombies. While this is likely of great concern to him, it is sadly unrelated to the RPG genre and shall therefore be glossed over in our history books. As far as quests that are of concern to you folks, he is finishing up a review for Oblivion and finishing off the first game he was requested to review, Rogue Galaxy. Ah yes, he is also about to start The Witcher, which, come to think of it, probably contains the variety of undead-fighting that we’re interested in.

6. Michael “CactuarJoe” Beckett is also working on the first game requested from his collection, for review of course. Alas, the final puzzles of Tales of Eternia are proving to be a bit of a larger ordeal than initially envisioned. He has taken out his frustration by having an epic Pokemon duel with Slayer.

5. Speaking of Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko, he is almost to the end of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. He may just end up reviewing it, which will be a good chance for you guys to get to know him better since he usually just sticks to behind-the-scenes stuff…and the aforementioned random epic Pokemon duels.

4. T.J. “Nerdboy Himself” Condon said some things I couldn’t understand about holiday parties and too much beer, but I think he’s working on a followup to his previous Final Fantasy VII editorial.

3. Jerry “XeroZohar” Swain took the week off to play retro games such as Snatcher. That sort of thing sounds like fun.

2. Jason “Ishmael” Schreier is on vacation.

1. Bears! Er, force of habit. My plan was originally to finish off some already-started reviews before leaving on my trip, but some unexpected paperwork and pre-trip busy-ness made that horribly difficult. I also had very little computer time there, but the good news is that I was able to spend a bit of quality time with my DS when I wasn’t running around. As a result, I’ll be writing one more review than I initially planned at the cost of them going up starting tomorrow instead of 1-2 weeks ago as initially planned.

And now, your bizarre IRC quote of the week…

[18:11] CactuarJoe: I’m literally inches away from finishing Tales of Eternia. The control is pissing me off and making it difficult to compete a puzzle. Other than that, kicking Slayer’s tush in Pokemon is about it. ^^
[18:11] CactuarJoe: Er, complete, not compete. >.>
[18:11] Roku: I’ll complete you!
[18:11] CactuarJoe: O.o
[18:12] Alethea: I can’t tell if that’s a threat or a lifelong romantic committment o_O
[18:12] Xero: XD
[18:12] CactuarJoe: O.O
[18:12] Roku: …^^;
[18:12] Alethea: 😮
[18:13] Roku: sorry, go on ^^;
[18:13] * Xero randomly steals rokkun’s heart
[18:13] Roku: noooo
