Breaking news: The number of female staffers at Random NPC has doubled! Yes, doubled! Which brings the number to a grand total of… drum roll please… two! As per tradition, I, the newest addition, will be bringing you this week’s Current Quests, wherein the staff continues to have a morbid interest in games about death and/or the end of the world. Good times!

I just recently got my copy of The World Ends With You so I’ve been busy fighting penguins, kangaroos and other critters that probably shouldn’t be roaming about downtown Tokyo. So far the world hasn’t ended so I’ll take that as a good sign.

Cortney “Alethea” Stone can rejoice now that she’s finally conquered Wild Arms: XF and experienced the bliss of watching the end credits roll. Not one to rest on her laurels, she’s already moved on to Crisis Core. The official word so far is “awesome.”

Michael “CactuarJoe” Beckett continues to ascend Tartarus in Persona 3 FES and is making steady progress — when he’s not being beaten down by one of those bosses that appears every fifteen or so floors. Strange how a creature called a “Sleeping Table” can so effectively decimate a party. If only its power were to give you a better night’s sleep we’d probably all be happier.

Jordan “J_Sensei” Jackson reports that he is happily playing through post-game content of The World Ends With You. On a less happy note he has recently had problems of the proboscidean variety. And no, don’t worry, it’s not contagious.

John “Karlinn” Boske’s recent experimentation of fusing kung fu and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has, unfortunately, led to a great deal of death of a rather violent and random nature. Don’t try this at home, kids; Karlinn is a trained professional. Sort of. He’s also been trying a number of demos for some shiny new upcoming PC games.

T.J. “Nerdboy Himself” Condon, too, is battling to save the world from total annihilation by ascending Tartarus… and also composing Persona 3 FES lyrics for Simon & Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence.” When taking a break from working on his opus, he’s been seen traipsing around Shibuya, Tokyo battling Noise.

Derek “Roku” Cavin, when not consumed by the strange thing called “schoolwork,” which I remember vaguely from years past, has scaled more than two hundred floors of Tartarus. And man is he out of breath! No, I wasn’t planning on quitting my day job, why do you ask?

[Stealthy Admin self-insert] That lovable Jerry “XeroZohar” Swain was last reported running around Alderney island in Grand Theft Auto IV, kicking butt and getting revenge. Also crashing a lot and getting killed in midair by some stupid rockets I HATE YOU ROCKETS. He will now be finishing off Ar Tonelico and Final Fantasy III DS, followed by starting his own play of Persona 3 FES. And now, back to your regularly scheduled Quests, already in progress.[/Stealthy Admin self-insert]

And yes we have one more FES player in Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko who was last seen exiting a cheap motel where he showed the Lovers’ arcana who’s its daddy. He’s also been doing a little Final Fantasy V Advance on the side, to keep himself busy.

And that wraps up another issue of Current Quests. Hopefully by next week the world won’t be in quite so much peril. Till next time!
