Final Fantasy XIII… Give It Another Year or So

Square Enix President Yoichi Wada had a chat with Reuters today about the state of the company. Square Enix performed well over the holidays in spite of the slowing economy and the company expects to meet their budget forecast up to March.

The interview also revealed that Final Fantasy XIII is planned for a 2009 release in Japan. The North American release will follow in April 2010 or sometime after that. It was also confirmed that the game will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive in Japan but will see both a PS3 and Xbox 360 release overseas.

So does this really surprise anyone? When it’s a Final Fantasy game, you just have to wait. A decade. This is just how it works. Ten bucks says a year from now, they delay it again by six months. That’s just the way it works.

    Typical development hell.
