Current Quests – Week of 12/02/07

Welcome back to Current Quests, ladies and gentlemen, where we show you what our staff has been working on the past week, and invite the reader to share their own activities. It’s been a busy week here at RandomNPC headquarters, with a lot of reviews going up and still more on the way.

Starting a general theme of space-faring adventure, Cortney “Alethea” Stone has been transported to a world far, far away as she continues her game of Mass Effect. Our lady of the vengeful dune buggy has also been spreading a bit of Christmas cheer, taking time off from interstellar conquest to put up some Christmas lights.

Next up, our man John “Karlinn” Boske has informed us that he’ll be heading into space as well quite soon, picking up a copy of Rogue Galaxy. Of course, if the astronaut thing doesn’t take off (a pun!), his backup position appears to be a career as a disfigured mutant in Fallout: Tactics. So keep an eye out for Karl after the nuclear bombs fall, assuming they don’t melt out of your sockets.

Even Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko is getting into the act, with a trip back to the world of Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2. Initial reports have him near the Power Plant, though Solar Noise interference (and the fact that the dungeon is unaccountably huge) makes it hard to tell. Apart from that, he’s also sailing the skies in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and keeping me on my toes by building a Gengar and an Electivire in Pokemon Pearl.

In other monster-training news, Derek “Roku” Cavin’s romp through Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker is coming along speedily, with Roku gearing up for the finals. Only time will tell if his Dessert Demon will take the cake (another pun! Haha!).

Our most recent contribution came from our very own Jerry “XeroZohar” Swain, with his review of Mega Man X: Command Mission. Although he’s no longer adventuring on another planet, Xero is keeping the sci-fi vibe going by returning once again to Metal Gear Solid 3 and Bioshock. We have scattered reports of walking, pyrokinetic tree people, so either Bioshock is a lot stranger than I gave it credit for, or the little girls have finally driven him mad.

As for myself, I’m bucking the sci-fi trend by going back to some good ol’ fashioned fantasy in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. I’ve just managed to complete the Wind Temple, so I hope to complete the rest of the game sometime this week. Giant mechs will likely draw me back in at that point, with a return to Front Mission DS. Because I am a slow, sad little man.

Alright, that appears to be it, ladies and gentlemen. Remember, if you want to tell us what to review during the long, dark teatime of the soul that is the January release schedule, give us a shout at Winter Requests. Aside from that, watch out for the Daleks and have a lovely week!
