Current Quests – Week of 01/13/08

Another week, another round of Current Quests. Ladies and gentlemen, we have officially entered that dreaded part of the year known as the Doldrums. The last genuinely interesting RPG release was about two months ago, leaving many gamers high and dry. As you may have noticed, many of us here at RandomNPC have been spending the drought catching up on old games, or running around being generally busy. So once again, here’s the lowdown on the staff’s activity.

Cortney “Alethea” Stone has been working on Mass Effect, seeing what differences she can spot on a second runthrough. So far, she reports that playing as a renegade Solider seems to be a bit sexier than a Vanguard.

In other news, T.J. “Nerdboy Himself” Condon has managed to stop himself flinging a DS at the wall due to late-game Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings issues, for which his new drywall is most thankful. He’s also been fiddling about a bit with Soul Nomad and installing a kichen sink, thus maintaining the one-to-one relationship between home improvement and gaming.

Our specialist in Butler Combat, Derek “Roku” Cavin, is currently deluged with coursework, which appears to have taken the form of a slavering behemoth. Last seen wearing a suit of armor made out of stale pancakes and whittling a battle-ready spear out of a 2B pencil, Roku hopes to slay the vicious beast in time to finish up a few more reviews.

Next up, Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko has been switching between a number of games, including Breath of Fire III and IV, and Rogue Galaxy. In between bouts of Tales action, he plots the destruction of the New England Patriots.

John “Karlinn” Boske is on vacation this week, having ditched the cold climes of the continental United States for the warm waters and sunny skies of Aruba. Clearly the man has no respect for good old fashioned frostbite.

Jerry “XeroZohar” Swain, on the other hand, has been dealing with a particularly troublesome router and playing Mega Man ZX Advent on Expert Mode. His progress on both has been higher than initially expected, for which all are glad.

As for me, I’ve been trudging along in Skies of Arcadia Legends, a game which has so far failed to wow. I know this game has a fairly significant fan base, but at fifteen or so hours in it just seems very typical to me. At any rate, here’s hoping you’ve got something to keep you occupied during this time of boredom and listlessness. We leave you with a very special solo, brought to you by our own T.J. “Nerdboy Himself” Condon, sung to the tune of Bryan Adams’ Summer of ’69.
