Current Quests – Week of 7/6/08

Any members of the viewing audience been following this season of Doctor Who? I’ve been watching episodes as they air in Britain in order to avoid the Sci Fi Channel and their horrible, horrible edits. The BBC showed the season finale last night, and good mother of God. I expected (spoiler removed), but (spoiler here, too)? And (spoiler), (spoiler), AND (spoiler)? It was absolutely (not a spoiler, just obscene). Anyway, on to this week’s Quests!

Jordan “J_Sensei” Jackson has been flitting here and there, keeping himself busy finishing up Metal Gear Solid 4 and Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones. He’s temporarily out of contact pending some upcoming events, but have no fear, he’s watching. Oh, he’s always watching.

Next up, John “Karlinn” Boske has been slumming his way through Arcanum, apparently putting together the mother of all mod packs. He’s also been fiddling around with Grand Theft Auto 4, seeing to his busy social life in between running people down.

Similarly busy, Derek “Roku” Cavin spent most of the week attending a special event, the fruits of which will be apparent quite soon (dramatic pause). Amidst his usual busy schedule, Roku’s been defeating Noise in The World Ends with You, and Robot Masters in Mega Man 5.

Our hard-working newsie, Erika “wolfraven80” Lachapelle, has spent the week fiddling about in Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones, and Suikoden V. Progress was made on the latter, and she reports a high level of confidence in her ability to finish the game before mandatory retirement age settles in.

Cortney “Alethea” Stone has been working her way through Final Fantasy Tactics A2, and reports meeting a nearly nude Seeq. With a mohawk. In a related matter, Fox News will be running a report on the rising crime rate amongst young Seeq, and how the Internet is to blame for it.

The Internet is also to blame for Michael “Slayer of God” Kozinko, but Fox News hasn’t caught up to him yet. Last seen running through Final Fantasy XII, Slayer has also been doing a bit of Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.

Finally, Jerry “XeroZohar” Swain has been participating in a Mega Man marathon this week, trying to see who can finish the original NES games fastest, followed by the Mega Man X series. No word on whether or not he’s turned into a Metool yet, but we don’t doubt it’ll happen sooner or later.

As for myself, I’m about 75% finished with Etrian Odyssey 2: Heroes of Lagaard. I think. The game doesn’t have a gameplay clock, but I’m at floor 20 or so, which I think means I’m closing in on the last two Stratum. Overall, I’m finding it to be oddly balanced – FOEs no longer give out experience, but special end-of-Stratum FOEs do, heaps and heaps of it. I’m hugely overleveled now because of how easy it is to just kill the FOE for a level or two, and then sleep in the Inn until they come back, and then do it all over again.

Anyway, that’s it for this week. Have a good week, and try not to anger any Daleks!
