- Profile
- Just your average, lazy, mildly obsessive-compulsive 20-something gamer/writer, with aspirations of doing either of the latter for pay sometime in the near future. I make no secret of my PC gaming heritage, nor the fact that I use 'heritage' improperly to describe a tendency to favor; I believe the proper word there is proclivity. But I digress.
I do that a lot too, by the way.
Anyhow, until further notice I'm your resident editor person who occasionally deigns to review games, but mostly is just here to keep things running as smoothly and error-free as possible. I have a strong fondness for literature of all kinds, have a man-crush on Warren Spector, and possess a soft spot for those games that offer little more than a really cool idea. I'm also one of the nicest, most laid-back people you're going to find without the aid of "herbal supplements", and I'm told I should be in radio.
If only, my friends. *If only*.

Over on the official website, he describes the process as an ongoing dialogue between players and developers, citing adjustments in Preferred Status upgrades and larger global character limits. Previous changes included increases in PVP limits and additional Quickbars.

Atlus has released a few tidbits regarding Shin Megami Tensei IV‘s world and story. You command the 18-year-old protagonist, a Samurai-in-training from the kingdom of East Mikado. A prophetic dream precedes your initiation, a process known as the Gauntlet Ceremony. Apparently this refers to an actual gauntlet issued to each Samurai, a magical device that aids each warrior in battling demons.
Among your typical ragtag band of heroes are: Watler, a brash young fellow that lacks for manners; Jonathan, the group’s softspoken peacemaker; Navarre, a proud young man that hates to lose; and Isabeau, the only female Samurai and strong-willed to boot. As previously mentioned, the game goes to various points in time, and apparently modern Tokyo lies in ruins following an assault by demons.

Feel free to double-take: Bethesda announced that the Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim will be out early next year. Yes, that includes the PS3 version, and unfortunately it is unclear if this means earlier DLC for the PS3 is closer to being ready. When asked, Bethesda said only that “We’re not done with content for Skyrim. When we’re ready to share more details, we’ll update everyone.” (more…)

BioWare’s Casey Hudson has put to Twitter the question of whether Mass Effect 4 should follow or precede the trilogy as it stands. Mass Effect history nerds may recall that ‘prequel’ puts it closer to the First Contact War (or Relay 314 Incident, depending on how your knees bend), while naturally anything post ME3 leaves the galaxy in a state of disrepair.
Check the tweet itself, and its responses, this-a-way.

More information regarding Shin Megami Tensei 4 has crept out, particularly regarding the game’s cast. Although the game appears to jump to several points in time, the party itself comes from the fictional country of East Mikado in 1492.
The silent, nameless main character is a recent inductee into a samurai order secretly sworn to fight demons. At present only two other characters were introduced: Isakal, a friend and big brother figure to the hero, and Hope, the samurai leader.

In a rather explosive finale, the original release of Final Fantasy XIV has officially come to a close. The weekend event drew enough players to overwhelm servers, leaving several – such as yours truly – unable to log in and witness the final battle firsthand. Fortunately, Square Enix arranged the final minutes of the Seventh Umbral Era in a CG trailer, available for all over on YouTube.
This marks the shutdown of the original servers, to be replaced next year with the Realm Reborn content. I’ll just be waiting over here, not at all impatient or anything.
