Hudson has announced Linebarrels of Iron, a PSP SRPG based on the mecha anime of the same name. Unlike many anime-based games, this will not simply rehash the story of the show, but instead, it will be a completely new plot. The game will hit Japanese shelves this fall, but there has been no announcement of a North American release at this time.

Gamers looking forward to the upcoming crossover game Cross Edge should keep their eyes on Trinity Universe for the PlayStation 3. Announced in the latest issue of Famitsu, the game brings together characters from the Atelier, Viorate, and Disgaea series. Two scenarios will be available, the first featuring a goddess and the Gust cast. The other scenario will centre around a demon lord and a devil dog named Kanata, with whom the Nippon Ichi cast should feel right at home. Also, for the first time, the Disgaea cast will appear in 3-D rather than sprite form.

I remember being at E3 2006 when Final Fantasy XIII was finally announced to the public. We didn’t know much back then, but thanks to the way information has trickled out, we almost know a few things about this game over three years later. When Square Enix announced that a playable demo would ship with Advent Children Complete (in Japan only, of course) I hastily put down my pre-order and waited the weeks for it to ship and then another three weeks for it to arrive. Was it worth the wait to get just a taste of what is to come? Continue reading ‘Final Fantasy XIII Demo – Hands on Impression’ »
Do you remember the days when you finished a game and it was over? The credits ran and you turned off your console and congratulated yourself on having fought the good fight and won. There was nothing left to do but move on to the next challenge. Well that wasn’t the case the first time you finished Chrono Trigger… Continue reading ‘Game Changers: Volume 6 – Chrono Trigger’ »

Howdy-o, people. With Second Evolution and Last Hope safely behind me, I feel I’ve sufficiently distanced myself from both titles to calmly and rationally tear one of them to pieces. Which one? That would be telling. (It’s Last Hope.) Take a listen, and let us all see how biases form and express themselves. Extreme spoilers beyond this point: you have been warned. In Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, the titular Plume refers to the Destiny Plume, which Wylfred can use to give a boost to his allies. This boost is pretty dang massive, doubling the character’s stats, granting them resistance to every element, and unleashing a powerful secondary effect that varies by character. Wyl can summon this secondary effect in battles on his own afterwards as a special skill, some of which can turn the tide of battle in an instant. The downside to all this, however, is that after the battle, the character dies a very permanent death. Given that the game doesn’t tell you which characters grant which skills, it can be a bit tough deciding who to sacrifice and who to keep. Therefore, this week’s Strategy Session is all about the best Sacrifice Skills!
A minor word of warning; in order to talk about Sacrifice Skills, we have to talk about the characters you get them from. For the most part, this isn’t a big deal, but there may be a few minor spoilers here and there. You have been warned! The latest Lionhead video diary for Fable II has finally given the release date for the upcoming expansion, See the Future. Set for release on May 12, See the Future will cost 560 MS points and offers new quests, new characters, unique equipment and a “back flip trick for canine companions.” Additionally, XBox LIVE Silver members will have the opportunity to join Fable II co-op games during the Multiplayer Unlocked Weekend, which begins May 8 and ends May 11.
Square Enix designer and belt connoisseur Tetsuya Nomura confirmed in a recent Famitsu interview that voice acting for Final Fantasy XIII is nearing completion. Nomura also brought up character designs for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, saying, to the certain frustration of the game’s artists, that the costumes will be hard to recreate in-game.
How fabulous? One might say… Absolutely Fabulous.
Eh? Eh?? C’mon, I know somebody else out there watched that show and doesn’t remember why, but there it is, etched in their brain where other facts should be, like their cell phone number or their manager’s name when they’re asking for a raise.

Playstation Blog has posted a video interview with Tsubasa Inaba, US producer of White Knight Chronicles. Topics included gameplay mechanics, what changes may occur during the US release, voice chat functions, and games that sync with Dark Side of the Moon. So far, none, but Inaba’s confidence remains high. Check out the full interview here.
We interrupt this program to apologize for this interruption. Thank you. With that out of the way, Square Enix has launched a website for an as yet untitled game. There is little to go on other than sirens, explosions, a picture of some semi-futuristic cityscape, and an ominous John F. Kennedy quote. So apparently it’s going to involve some sci-fi/fantasy title with the fate of the world at stake. That narrows it down, doesn’t it?
