This week, we’ll be continuing our theme of Pokémon set to appear on the covers of the upcoming Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Ho-oh’s counterpart, Lugia, is more defensively oriented, and generally makes a better wall than the rainbow pheonix. Lugia’s more focused nature makes it easier to fit into teams, though its typing does tend to cause it trouble in a metagame full of anti-Psychic tactics.

Y’know, Jackie Chan can star in the worst movie imaginable, but it would still be worth it for the blooper reel and at least one of the fight scenes. Who Am I? is just epic. But, I ramble. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete has finally been given a release date in North America. It will hit shelves on June 2 for $38.96. Instead of a playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII, gamers on this side of the world will be treated to a new trailer instead.
The movie features 26 minutes of new scenes and several bonus features. There is a 25-minute animated feature detailing Denzel’s past called “On the Way to a Smile – Episode: Denzel.”
If you’re still on the fence, look for our upcoming review of the movie.
Hybrid-genre games have always been something of an experiment, even as they have grown more common throughout the industry. Going back as far as the Doom era, namely with a little-known title called Strife (which was built on the Doom engine) hybrids don’t often truly appeal to fans of one genre or the other. Too much a shooter, RPG fans get turned off; too much an RPG, shooter fans won’t like it. This is a gross oversimplification, but there is truth to the notion that a hybrid game can’t lean too heavily on any single aspect.

Man, I don’t know if I want to live in a world where Duke Nukem Forever is truly no more. It was like Schödinger’s Cat in game form, only we now know for certain that there never was a cat in the first place, and they were just showing us pictures of other cats. Of course we kinda knew all along that something was up but were going with it anyway because it made for good joke fodder, and who knows? Maybe there really was a cat in there the whole time and it’d be a really awesome cat. A cat with attitude and strippers. Oh well. Another hallmark of our pasttime gone by the wayside.
Anyway, here’s some completely unrelated media for you: Knights in the Nightmare, Blood of Bahamut, Ys Seven, Inazuma Eleven 2, and Trinity Universe.

With Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver being announced this week, I — that is to say, the Pokemon nerd in me — thought it might be fun to take a look at the game’s signature Pokemon. We’ll start off by looking at the rainbow Pokemon, Ho-oh, one of the more overlooked Legendary Pokemon in competitive play. In order to provide a little more depth than our Pokemon Platinum entries, I’ll also be offering some move set and nature suggestions, as well as some recommended EV spreads for the more obsessive Pokemon players in our audience.
